Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens

OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) requires employers to safeguard employees who face potential occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM).

If there’s any chance you might encounter blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM), you face significant health risks. Bloodborne and airborne pathogens commonly found in the U.S. include hepatitis B virus (HBV), hepatitis C virus (HCV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and tuberculosis (TB).

Our Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens course helps reduce those risks by focusing on how to protect yourself from blood and airborne pathogens and what to do if an exposure occurs.

Our partnership with the National Safety Council brings you the most current Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens training on the market, with the least hassle and expense! Our courses are nationally recognized and meet all OSHA standards.

If you need to take a Bloodborne and Airborne Pathogens course, the National Safety Council is the smart choice. Our Student Manual puts the most up-to-date information in the context of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, so you know exactly what’s needed for compliance.

The 2-hour course covers:

  • Introduction to bloodborne pathogens

  • Bloodborne pathogens, including hepatitis viruses and HIV

  • Preventing infection from bloodborne pathogens

  • Airborne pathogens, including tuberculosis
